Though it has gotten cooler here in Austin, TX, it can still be difficult to get into the spirit of the season. To help you immerse yourself in the festivities of December, we’ve decided to share some hot chocolate recipes for you to try in this week’s Stoney Ridge Apartments Blog.

Peppermint Hot Chocolate


  • 2 cups of milk

  • 2 cups of heavy cream

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon of peppermint extract

  • Whipped cream

  • Crushed candy cane

This recipe for peppermint hot chocolate is the perfect combination of hot chocolate and the season. If you’re going to dive into some hot chocolate, why not do it with a festive kick?

White Fudge Oreo Hot Cocoa


  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

  • 2 tbsp water

  • 1 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 white fudge oreos crushed

If you love Oreos and if you’re looking for an easy recipe to follow, this is the recipe for you! Get your Oreo fix mixed with some delicious hot chocolate on a cold December night. If you don’t have White Fudge Oreos, you can substitute normal Oreos or any other flavored ones you wish!  

Pumpkin Spice White Hot Chocolate


  • 1 cup of heavy cream

  • 2 cups of milk - I used skim milk

  • 1 cup of good quality white chocolate chips Ghirardelli recommended

  • 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

  • 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin spice

  • Whipped cream and additional pumpkin spice to sprinkle on top.

Just because Thanksgiving is over, doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy the wonderful festive taste of pumpkin spice. These two flavors collide for a delicious treat on a cold evening, so enjoy it while you can!
